Rhodes Pond Sunset

Sun sets behind a row of Cypress trees at Rhodes Pond 4/23/15. The pond is part of the Black River in NC, where some of the oldest Cypress growth on the East Coast can be observed.

Dual Waterfalls

Light rays dance between two waterfalls, captured in western North Carolina near Sylva. Every few seconds the light changed as the sun moved behind the trees, eventually ending the light ray spectacle.

Looking Glass Falls

Looking Glass Falls at sunset. One of my favorite moments from 2016 while exploring NC. Just before sunset, the thick clouds parted and direct sun hit the mist, making the rainbow visible. After a few minutes it was gone, and the sun fell below the horizon. Part of the Pisgah National forest.

Moore's Knob Above the Clouds

Winter wonderland and Moore's Knob above the fog, captured December in Danbury at Singletree Gun & Plough. The sky was overcast all day up until this image, but eventually the sun started to peek through the clouds, and the snow in the valley started melting which created a beautiful fog. The fog and clouds drifted against Moore's Knob and created an amazing visual.

Hanging Rock

An epic sunset at Hanging Rock, NC, from mid April 2016. For a couple of minutes the orange/pink colors became so bright that the cliffs and hills changed to warmer colors. I preplanned this vertical shot an hour before the peak colors, and definitely got better light than expected. Six image hand-stitched vertorama + three image focus stack.
